Tom has been more than helpful in securing the SeaRay that we were looking for. We had emailed to say we wanted the boat but ours had completed. We confirmed a date to turn up and even though he had another buyer he held it for us. We paid our deposit and he has been doing the work required and has kept us up to date with photos. We are going next week for sea trial and collection.
Tom has his way of doing things but we have had no problems ….we will see what happens after sea trial and beyond…….

I haven’t been able to edit this until today. We had such a terrible time dealing with Tom Binks after the sale. The boat had so many faults on it after we arrived back at our marina which is a good five hours away.

Because we lived 5 hours we agreed he would do the sea trial and video it for us. We would then pick it up the following day. All he kept telling us was he had been there many years, sold many boats and to trust him, he was very convincing….
We had a total of 2 mins of videos, that cut out at certain times.
The first time we took the boat out the following day within 2 mins alarm bells were ringing so loud and wouldn’t turn off.
All I will say is that 2 months later after many calls and videos to him, our engineer and a Mercruiser specialist found all the faults and repaired them. I sent all the faults from the diagnostics tests all these faults that were there from before we purchased.
He did give us some money back by not charging us for the registration.
But he did try to charge us for the lift into the water for the sea trial, which is the owners responsibility, we as buyers only have to pay for lift out.
The repairs came to over a 1000€ and the boat was not able to be used from April to July.
I did send him a solicitors letter as second hand boats are guaranteed for 6 months for faults that don’t show up on sea trial but are there.
He told me us he would fight it all the way and our solicitor was prepared to fight but we decided not too.
The reason being we should have been there for the sea trial but we trusted him instead, it has left us with a very bad taste in our mouth and will never ever trust buying a boat without going through all the checks ourselves.
Buyer beware…..I have all the correspondence, all the videos and faults, all the receipts, plus the heartache.

as a boat trader I discuss an option on a yacht by email and telephone for 14 days. booked tickets from the Netherlands. Emailed these to Tom for confirmation of the appointment.
arrived at the office. I am told that the boat has already been sold.
Thats not how you do business as an original yacht broker Tom .
carrera yachting is therefore in my opinion an unreliable company
also heard this in Malaga for confirmation
take advantage of this as a buyer.
